California's minimum wage increased from $8.00 to $9.00 per hour today (a 12.5% increase), and will rise again to $10.00 on January 1, 2016 (a further 11.1% increase). California employers must pay the higher of the applicable federal, state, or local minimum wage. For unionized workers, the minimum specified in the collective bargaining agreement.
